Collin County Songwriters Association

Think globally, rock locally

Ladies and Gentlemen of the CCSA,
That includes everyone, this is short and sweet. We in the CCSA need your involvement, either in coming up with ideas, or physical invovlement, we need help from all our members.
1) If you have an idea about how to make the CCSA better, let us hear from you, if you have an event that the CCSA could do such as festivals or charity events, you need to bring these to our attention.
If you think that the board does'nt do well in its office, then next election, run.
2) We will have need if we get the grant from the city, for people who would like to volunteer for stagehands, makeup, wardrobe,, stage manager , as well as lighting and video and audio. These are just a few jobs.As well as composers lyricists, and songwriters.
3) we have a lot of room for open mic partipants for Rockin the Park 09, Steve Anderson and myself will be MC-ing.
and we need some strong fellows to help move and setup and asssist the others in setup.
4) The Farmers Market needs our influence as well, they asked us after last season about this year, some one should contact them about playing up there, a good venue for exposure. and gaining experience.
5) A new coffeehouse is opening in Mesquite, no need to bring PA or lights. Just your amp and instruments , this coffeehouse will be the 4th Saturday of the month. Call the Renaissaance Church (972) 679-2354 ask for Danny in Mesquite for full details.
6, Finally we need you because you make the CCSA what it is, a vibrant, happening organization and with everyones help it will be that way for many years to come.
Have a Happy weekend and come see Andy Howell at Frosted Java in Frisco on Saturday night at 7pm, NAMS show at their school on Saturday at 5pm, and Ryan Michael Galloway at Lone Star Winery in McKinney also starting at 7pm on Saturday with Ryan also playing at Stonebriar Church on Sunday starting at 7:30pm.
Sorry I get wound up when I talk about the CCSA,

Very good, sorry Ryan, I have slept since then, I totally forgot that this was already set up, in the words of Rosanne Roseannadanna "Never mind!"

Mudcat...as I had told everyone last fall, the Farmers Market has already contacted us and wants us to play. We'll fill the roster for performances this spring and summer soon.

Michael...It's not such a crazy idea. In fact it's been in our charter from the beginning. The mission of CCSA is to educate local songwriters, but also to promote local live music. Musicians need songwriters, songwriters need musicians. That has been our though, anyway.

We need to reach who we already have enrolled in the CCSA.This is the reason for the blog, I am sorry that my message was received as we need more members, simply we need more invovlement from our membership. This may be another "growing" pain, before the organization reaches maturity. We need thoughts on how to succeed with the music community, if that means including non songwriters, if we all agree then great! I think we should all make a list of our abilities, blue collar or white, when we get the project from the city ( I am an optimist), we will need many people as assistants, and staffing various committees. This is our organization, we want to see it flourish with events and projects that we all enjoy doing.
Come on everyone lets all get behind Rocking the Park 09, if nothing else, talk to the people you know about the event, if you can come out, bring your songs and sign up for the Open Mic from 12:30pm-3:30pm or come with the idea of helping hands for all of us, I know weall appreciate it.

Ok, here's an idea, a crazy one. There are a lot of bands that perform in the Collin Country area. What about expanding scope to include all musicians, not just songwriters? Just an idea. :)
