Just posted a new song about the environment called "Mother Earth", a depature from our blues roots. Check it out! We are very proud of the wonderful female touch that was added by Bobbie Williams. The song will be available for download this weekend at gatorandmudcat.com. Take a listen, give me your comments.

This Saturday, February 6th, the Trinity River Whalers visit the Trinity Hall Irish Pub in Allen, Texas. Aside from some fantastic singing, guitar playing, mandolin picking music, by Micheal Price, Marj Troyer, Steve and Roger Harrison, Randy Christian plays the congas and blends in some mighty fine harp music. Randy is kinda shy when it comes to his musical talents and the harmonica, whistle, drums, and any other noise maker you can find, but without a doubt his rhythm with the harmonica makes… Continue

Some very smart people at Roni Music have figured out a way to take an MP3 file and slow it down, AND change the pitch if needed.
This means the time it takes to learn a song has been cut in half. Ergo, the Amazing Slow Downer can change your life, or at least save you a bunch of time by trimming the learning curve.
In my case, I am learning bass lines, so it helps me pick apart the structure of a song and figure out what should happen when. It doesn't… Continue

What a great week! I went to Houston, played and recorded a song that our producer says is "world music". Song was written by Reames/Folse 2002 called "Mother Earth". Got a chance to expand into a less bluesy feel, different type of
vocal, out of my comfort zone. Producer staring at me through the glass- for the first time in a long while, I didn't know what I should do for this song. I had performed it live many times, but this was different. How would you feel if a man… Continue

I'm selling one of my two keyboard stands as I'm choosing to go in a differen equipment direction for my keyboards. This is an Ultimate Support AX-90B Apex Column Keyboard Stand, it can take the weight of 88-key rigs and looks great. I have never taken this out on a gig, and bought it only last year, so it's condition is LIKE NEW in shape. All the parts collapse inside the column, contains cable management embedded in the outside surface of the column, and comes with a bag for… Continue

So I have written an albums worth what I think are some good songs. I did a few solo things to get my feet wet and find out if I was cut out to perform. I took that momentum and founded a band, The Hampton Bridge. We played a few small things to feel out band arrangements and find our "stage grove". After a whole bunch of rehearsing we have recorded quite a few things and blown the roof off of a few local clubs. What do I do next. How do get the music industry to hear my stuff. I really enjoy… Continue

Happy New Year.
Traditionally, a Celtic music "sessiun" is a gathering of like minded folk musicians who come together to play a variety of instruments with music that is in the traditions of their Celtic cultures [Irish-Scots-Wales-Americana-etc.]. These sessiuns are usually lead by one person who keeps the group on track with the theme of that purpose. The Trinity Hall Irish Pub in Dallas have been sponsoring sessiuns for a number of years under the direction of the "Traditional… Continue

You may remember the posts on the events page to tune in to the Leslie Taylor Hare show at various times throughout the latter part of the year. Dec3 was the newest show, however, I have discovered that this will not be the last appearance either on Leslie Taylor Hare's show or the channel. A DVD is available to the performers for an additional fee, and as I was going to use the footage for our promo pack, this seemed to be a logical expense. I got to the studio, calmly asked… Continue

For those of you who may be interested in Celtic music and the "Irish" pub scene, the owners of the Trinity Hall Irish Pub (one located in Dallas at Mockingbird) have decided to open up a very nice little pub in Allen, Texas (located in the restaraunt strip along 75 in Allen -- right next to IHOP). They're opening up this weekend (Dec. 4th).
If you have a chance, drop by. Really a nice a place and great little stage area for bands. There's already a line up for Celtic bands and… Continue

In the 40+ years that I have been in music, man and boy, I have extensive experience in the field of failure. Being turned down for shows that I felt might make a huge difference, to flail endlessly and ram my head against the stone wall that is the organized music business. This struggle is now showing some signs of abating, the wall is softening, my swimming lessons have started to pay off. In other words, my career is starting to move and move quickly.
Gator and… Continue

For those of you who like harps (harmonicas that is), I just got my new harp tune worked up that I've always associated with this Celtic new year [Samhain time for you Celtic folk out there]. Dunmore Lasses is a lively tune, and yet has a mystical feel about it that I've always loved. Hope you do too. Visit my KelticDead Music site at www.kelticdead.com
